Created by Gray Hofmeyr and set on the fictitious Horizon Deep Gold Mine, Isidingo explores the lives of the Horizon Deep mining community as they try to make sense of and survive the challenges facing the New South Africa. While ISIDINGO allows our Rainbow Nation to laugh at its foibles, it also demands that the nation examine those issues that threaten our society. South Africa's underbelly is well represented in ISIDINGO and the series continues to examine the challenges facing the country. It would be simplistic to imagine that the series could offer solutions to issues such as adult illiteracy, AIDS, rape, kidnapping, corruption, crime and murder, but by highlighting these issues the producers hope to stimulate debate and encourage viewers to look for the much-needed solutions themselves.

14:00 Urban Vermin (Animated Series) (Foreign)
A classic battle of good versus evil, the series follows the adventures of two raccoon brothers, Abe and Ken, once the best of friends, now sworn enemies. These are not “cute” furry racoons . Ken is an eager “godfather” style villain with an army of rat underlings. He controls most of a garbage-infested urban kingdom of sewers, alleys, stream tunnels and parks known as ‘the block’. Whereas Abe is a reluctant hero with just three misfit friends, a mad-scientist skunk who’s neurotic about her personal hygiene, a blind-as-a-mole mole, and a flying squirrel who thinks he’s human! Abe’s guilt at his brother’s bad behaviour drives him to try to undo his brother’s Machiavellian stranglehold on the block! Whether it’s an elaborate attempt to gain control of ‘the block’ by creating a bionic Chihuahua out of garbage, or a smaller scheme to simply embarrass each other, Abe and Ken are caught in a twisted and hilarious war of petty sibling rivalry that neither of them is prepared to lose. Featuring a zany cast of characters, the action takes place in alleyways, in sewers, on rooftops, electrical towers and even in the city park.
